Job Summary/Objective

Lead and develop a maintenance department and staff to deliver strategies, policies and procedures that ensure an efficient operation through maintenance practices. Provide essential guidance on maintenance techniques as well as safety practices so all can meet objectives set by maintenance manager while operating in peak conditions.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Serve as the main point of contact and liaison between department and senior management and along with the rest of the internal team
  • Manage and lead the efforts and programs of maintenance planner including CMMS program.
  • Manage and lead the efforts of the maintenance supervisors and team.
  • Assist with special projects as needed and provide support to other members of the maintenance team
  • Sets overall maintenance department goals, processes, or procedures to accomplish company objectives
  • Creates a predictive, preventive and reliability-based maintenance systems as well as procedures to keep day-to-day operations running smoothly
  • Maintain key performance indicators include production uptime, budget adherence, schedule compliance
  • Oversees, motivates, and reviews maintenance supervisors including management of training and professional development
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and developments
  • Assist in developing and managing the maintenance budget
  • Planning, scheduling, and overseeing all repair and installation activities
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure their needs are met in a timely manner
  • Managing inventory of spare parts and equipment
  • Investigating root causes of failures and guiding teams on corrective action plans to prevent future issues 
  • Hire, train, and develop maintenance staff, working to keep a positive, team-oriented environment focused on delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient maintenance services.
  • Actively participate in plant safety efforts including conducting incident reports, mitigation of project risks, and technician safety 
  • Regularly provide prompt and detailed technical guidance for a variety of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration conditions 
  • Perform various electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repairs including, but not limited to 3-phase motors, contactor relays, blown fuses, overload starters, VFD’s, motors, and PLC’s
  • Serve as an expert troubleshooter for all mechanical issues, providing guidance and direction.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous projects and prioritize maintenance requests by level of impact 
  • Develop effective procedure to diagnose, troubleshoot and validate quality solutions
Document, log, and report repairs into CMMS system and provide regular updates to maintenance team

Qualifications:
General Skills & Abilities needed to complete job successfully:
  • Proficiency in assigning tasks and oversight to maintenance supervisors and members of team with remarkable effectiveness, efficiency, and positivity.
  • Expert knowledge and applied understanding of: Industrial electrical instrumentation and controls, mechanical, pneumatic, and utilities.
  • Expert knowledge in PLC Programing and troubleshooting.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to effectively diagnose, troubleshoot, and conduct complex repairs
  • Expert knowledge of equipment systems troubleshooting and repair
  • Expert knowledge of dairy manufacturing processes and machinery.
  • Proficient knowledge of lubrication principles and techniques including bearing types and usage
  • Experience conducting utility and HVAC/R maintenance and repairs including ammonia-based systems.
  • Advanced computer skills and familiarity with computer programs such as a CMMS or an EAM 
  • Ability to work rotating schedules, weekends, holidays, and be on-call 
  • Ability to see the big-picture and can create a vision and mission for a maintenance team
  • Ability to manage equipment orders, shipments, and inventory.
  • Experience in developing standard operation procedures.
  • Diverse knowledge and practice in predictive and preventive maintenance, including development of reliability programs.
  • Strong practice in scheduling, hiring duties, and administrative management.
  • Advanced leadership skills and capabilities

Experience: (required)                                  
  • 7+ years of industrial maintenance experience
  • 7+ year of experience in a lead, supervisor, management, or leadership role

Experience: (preferred)
  • Expert knowledge of food and beverage industry preferred

  • Requires ability to walk and stand for 12 or more hours at a time.
  • Requires ability to stoop, bend, reach, lift, climb ladders, stairs of various heights and carry items in excess of 55 pounds.
  • Requires ability to stoop, bend, reach, lift and carry items often including items up to 55lbs.
  • Requires ability to push and pull items frequently including items 150lbs.
  • Requires ability to climb ladders and stairs of various heights including floors of 100ft or more.
  • Requires ability to hear and speak and frequently hear and speak in very noisy environments.
  • Requires ability to work in varying extreme hot, cold, and wet temperatures and conditions.
  • Requires ability to work in confined spaces frequently.
  • Requires the ability to visually observe the condition of surroundings.
  • Requires ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals.
  • Requires ability to walk entire facility multiple times for each shift.
  • Ability to drive and operate a forklift and like equipment.
