JOB SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The CDL Yard Driver will play a vital role in coordinating deliveries and pickups between UDA facilities, customers, and partner farms. The CDL Yard Driver will operate a diesel-powered tractor trailer combination to transport and deliver liquid products in a timely and safe manner, to ensure product quality and freshness.
CDL YARD DRIVER PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct pre and post inspections on tractors and trailers Manage inbound and outbound freighters and direct to docs and bays
Record and report out of spec deliveries and unscheduled loads
First point of contact for customer demand changes and communicate to all stakeholders
Respond to calls and texts from all customers and contractors
Ability to check emails and complete online learnings and trainings
Accurate written documentation of all required paperwork.
Communicate with Transportation Foreman and Supervision.
Audit equipment for food safety and quality standards, resolving and/or reporting compliance issues immediately.
Take direction from the shift Yard Foreman

CDL DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to drive diesel powered tractor with different trailer types including reefers, dry vans, tankers, and quad axle tankers
Must be able to work a variable shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays with semi-annual shift bids
Ability to use electronic driver vehicle inspection software
Requires ability to read, hear, speak, and comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions
Ability to participate and adhere to all practices, policies, pay rates, and membership dues of a labor union
CDL Class A with Tanker endorsements
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience with Class A CDL and Tanker endorsement
Education/Certifications:
High School Diploma or Educational Equivalent
Truck Driving School certificate
Must have clean driving record
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Requires the ability to operate a motor vehicle for multiple hours at a time
- Requires ability to walk and stand
- Requires ability to stoop, bend, reach, lift and carry items up to 55lbs
- Requires the ability to climb ladders and stairs of various heights occasionally
- Requires the ability to push and pull large items up to 150lbs frequently
- Requires the ability to safely operate equipment
- Requires ability to visually observe the condition of surroundings
- Requires ability to work in varying extreme hot, cold, and wet temperatures and conditions
- Requires the ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals
- Requires ability to hear and speak, occasionally in high time weighted average environments with elevated decibel readings (using appropriate hearing protection)
- Requires the ability to safely operate a forklift occasionally
