Summary of Job Responsibility:
The Quality Assurance Shift Supervisor will work closely with production to ensure the highest level of Food Safety and Quality is maintained throughout the process from raw product receiving to finished product packaging. The QA Shift Supervisor must have working knowledge of HACCP and all SOP’s. Additionally, they will work with all operators to ensure compliance with all SOP’s. The QA Shift Supervisor will be responsible for product quality surveillance of manufacturing areas with possible HACCP monitoring, conduct periodic facility inspections and may perform daily bacteriological environmental inspections in critical plant areas. Will coordinate with production in the monitoring of packaging lines for effective control of CP’s and CCP’s and product/package integrity. The QA Shift Supervisor will work closely with the Sanitation Team in order to validate sanitation effectiveness and Environmental Monitoring. They will assist with all new hire training in regard to GMP’s and Food Safety awareness. Additionally, they will assist the Quality Assurance Manager and the Director of Food Safety and Quality with all Regulatory and Customer audits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Quality Manager and Director of Food Safety and Quality during regulatory and customer audits.
  • Collaborate with the production team to uphold food safety and quality standards at every stage of the manufacturing process.
  • Monitor compliance with all SOPs, working closely with operators to ensure adherence.
  • Conduct product quality surveillance within manufacturing areas, including HACCP monitoring and periodic facility inspections.
  • Coordinate with production to monitor packaging lines for effective control of Critical Points (CPs) and Critical Control Points (CCPs), ensuring product and packaging integrity.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis to investigate and address product quality issues and process failures.
  • Partner with the Sanitation Team to validate sanitation effectiveness and manage the Environmental Monitoring program.
  • Facilitate training for new hires in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety awareness.
  • Comply with all UDA quality policies and procedures, promptly reporting any nonconformities.

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Food Manufacturing experience.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with HACCP, GMP’s, Food Safety systems, and Quality Assurance protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Familiarity with Environmental Monitoring, packaging line audits, and sanitation validation.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills for training and team collaboration.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to lead multiple business initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Microsoft Office, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in writing SOP’s and SSOP’s.
Schedule:
  • 12-hour shifts (Nights).
  • Working on a 2-2-3 schedule.
Physical Requirements:
  • The ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • The ability to lift 55lbs.
  • The ability to climb ladders and stairs of varying heights.
  • The ability to work in varying temperatures including hot working conditions.
  • The ability to hear and speak.
  • The ability to climb inside Tankers.
  • The ability to climb in Silos.
  • The time spent on the floor is 70%.
  • The time spent in the office is 30%.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Dairy Industry and/or Food Manufacturing.
Education/Certifications:
  • High School Diploma, or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in applicable science discipline or Equivalent Experience.
  • HACCP Certification preferred.
